JAMMU : An awareness program highlighting the importance of organ donation, tissue transplantation, and prevention of HIV/AIDS was successfully organized by the ASCOMS College OF Nursing. The event aimed to educate the students about life-saving medical practices and to promote social responsibility among the youth. The program commenced with a warm welcome address by the Principal Prof. Dr. Indra Moza who felicitated the esteemed guests and dignitaries, including Ms. Anshu Sharma, Consultant (IEC/Media), SOTTO J&K; Dr. Irfan Ahmad Lone, Transplant Coordinator, SOTTO J&K; Ms. Nisha Kumari, Data Entry Operator, SOTTO J&K; Ms. Sabiha Iqbal, Assistant Director (MS), JKACS; and Ms. Radhika Sudhan, Assistant Director (GIPA), JKACS. In the keynote address the Principal emphasized the significance of organ donation and tissue transplantation, stating that a single donor has the potential to save multiple lives. She also highlighted the importance of HIV/AIDS prevention, stressing the need for awareness, early diagnosis, and the elimination of stigma through accurate information and education.
A key highlight of the program was the administration of the Organ Donation Pledge to the students, during which students formally administered the pledge and encouraged to spread awareness about organ donation. The students participated enthusiastically and in large number demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility and commitment towards to save the lives .As part of the program, various student-centric activities were organized to encourage participation and creativity. These included a poster making competition and a rangoli competition, through which students creatively conveyed impactful messages on organ donation and HIV/AIDS awareness. The cultural activities were performed depicting social responsibility received enthusiastic appreciation from the audience.
Additionally, debate and quiz competitions were conducted to enhance students’ knowledge and encourage meaningful discussions on medical awareness, prevention strategies, and common myths related to HIV/AIDS. The students displayed activities with enthusiasm, confidence. The program concluded with vote of thanks, acknowledging the dedicated efforts of the organizing committee, faculty members, and students for making this event informative and impactful. Overall, the event successfully reinforced the message that awareness, prevention, and compassion can save lives and help build a healthier society.
