BJP hold workshop on “One Nation, One Election” campaign

JAMMU : Jammu and Kashmir BJP organized a one-day workshop as part of its awareness campaign for “One Nation, One Election” to educate the public about proposed electoral reforms. The workshop was inaugurated by BJP President Sat Sharma CA, accompanied by General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul, former Minister Priya Sethi, senior leader and Convenor for the campaign CA Rajeev Gupta, Co-Convenor Arun Prabhat Singh, and spokesperson Altaf Thakur.

The workshop, attended by BJP district Convenors and Co-Convenors, featured a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation to further explain the initiative.

Sat Sharma CA emphasized the importance of the “One Nation, One Election” campaign, stating that it aims to highlight key advantages such as cost savings, improved governance, and reduced election-related disruptions. With elections currently taking place at different times across states and the center, there is significant administrative and financial burden on the government. Holding them simultaneously could streamline resources, minimize policy paralysis, and improve governance efficiency.

Sat Sharma further remarked that “One Nation, One Election” is a transformative idea capable of reshaping India’s electoral landscape. The initiative aims to ensure that citizens are well-informed and actively engaged in the national discourse, as democracy thrives when people understand the impact of electoral reforms.

Ashok Koul stressed that the awareness campaign aims to encourage citizen participation and informed discussions on this critical electoral reform. Various programs, such as discussions with youth, constitutional experts, political analysts, and prominent business communities, will contribute to creating a balanced debate on the benefits of implementing “One Nation, One Election.”

Priya Sethi noted that in today’s fast-paced world, the time is ripe for adopting electoral reforms and contributing to the country’s progress and prosperity.

Rajeev Gupta highlighted the growing support for the initiative, with people from different sectors collaborating to present diverse perspectives. Media houses and digital platforms are playing a pivotal role in spreading awareness, ensuring the campaign reaches every corner of the country.

Arun Prabhat Singh underscored the critical role of youth in educating the public on the significance of this reform, expressing hope that Indian citizens would embrace the idea wholeheartedly.

The workshop served as a crucial platform for spreading awareness and garnering support for the “One Nation, One Election” campaign.
