Cambridge Doctorate Jasdeep Singh Gill Named New Head of Radha Soami Satsang Beas

BEAS :Jasdeep Singh Gill has been officially nominated as the new spiritual head of Radha Soami Satsang Beas, a prominent spiritual organization located along the banks of the river Beas, approximately 45 km from Amritsar. The organization, with a significant following both in India and abroad, will now be under the guidance of Gill.

The announcement was made by the current dera head, Gurinder Singh Dhillon, in a statement released on Monday. “Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon has nominated Jasdeep Singh Gill, son of Sukhdev Singh Gill, as patron of the Radha Soami Satsang Beas Society, effective from September 2, 2024,” the statement read. Dhillon, who has led the dera for several years, expressed his gratitude for the support he has received from the sangat and urged them to extend the same love and affection to Gill as he assumes his new responsibilities as patron and ‘sant satguru.’

Jasdeep Singh Gill, who is the grandson of Dhillon’s maternal aunt, brings a rich academic and professional background to his new role. With a doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Cambridge and a Master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Gill has an impressive career history. He most recently served as the Chief Strategy Officer of Cipla Limited, a position he held until his recent resignation. Gill’s career also includes key roles at Ranbaxy and Cambridge University Entrepreneurs, where he served as president and chairman.

Radha Soami Satsang Beas, founded in 1891, now has branches in over 90 countries. Central to its teachings is the guidance of a spiritual teacher, who explains the purpose of life and instructs members in a method of spirituality based on daily meditation practice. The dera, known for its neutrality in political matters, nonetheless attracts visits from political leaders, particularly during election periods, due to its significant influence in Punjab and other states such as Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

Gill becomes the sixth spiritual head of the sect, following in the footsteps of Jaimal Singh, Sawan Singh, Jagat Singh, Charan Singh, and Gurinder Singh Dhillon. His appointment marks a new chapter in the history of Radha Soami Satsang Beas, as the organization continues to expand its reach and spiritual influence globally.
