Devender Rana is richest among all candidates in Jammu division

JAMM : Devender Singh Rana, BJP candidate from Nagrota Assembly constituency, is richest among all the contestants in Jammu division from various political parties for the scheduled Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.

A former MLA and businessman turned politician, Rana has more than Rs 46.83 crore movable and immovable assets while his spouse has assets worth Rs 76.73 crores.

As per the affidavit, filed by Devender Singh Rana along with nomination papers before the Returning Officer, he has Rs 9,13,18,837 movable assets, which include bank deposits, investments, shares of JAMKASH Vehicleades, Pathankot Vehicleades, Take One Television JAMKASH Biking Pvt Ltd, JAMKASH Foods and Hospitalities, J&K Bank Ltd and gold.

 

His immovable assets include agricultural land worth Rs 1.8 crores at Malore, Doda; non-agriculatural land at Sunjawan (Rs 18 crore), Channi Himmat (Rs 3 crore+Rs 10 crore), Sidhra (Rs 2 crore), Hyderpora, Srinagar (Rs 1 crore) , commercial building at B C Road Jammu (Rs 60 lakh), residential buildings at Greater Noida, Pathankot, etc.

 

As spouse of Rana has 15.74 crore movable and Rs 60.99 crore immovable assets, net worth of their combined assets is more than Rs 123 crores. Devender Rana has done B Sc Engineering (Civil) from NIT Kurukshetra.

 

Other prominent rich contestants having assets worth crores of rupees, include former minister and BJP candidate from Vijaypur, Chander Parkash Ganga (Assets of Rs 19 crore); former Minister and BJP candidate from Jasrota, Rajiv Jasrotia (Rs 13.88 crores); Ex MLC and BJP candidate from Bahu, Vikram Randhawa (Rs 12 crore); former Minister and BJP candidate from Samba, Surjeet Singh Slathia (Rs12.39 crores); former MLA and BJP candidate from Akhnoor, Rajiv Sharma (Rs 3 crore); Yudhvir Sethi, BJP candidate from Jammu East (Rs5.32 crores); former minister and Congress candidate from Jammu South (R S Pura), Raman Bhalla (Rs 4.6 crore); former Minister and Congress candidate from Jammu East, Yogesh Sawhney (Rs 4.5 crore), former Minister and Congress candidate from Basohli, Choudhary Lal Singh (1.75 crores), former Minister and Congress candidate from Billawar, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma (Rs 2.48 crores); former SSP and Independent candidate from Marh Assembly constituency, Mohan Lal Kaith (Rs 1.65 crores); DDC and Independent candidate from Bahu, Taranjit Singh Tony (Rs 7 crore).

Among other prominent contestants, former Minister and Congress candidate from Marh Assembly constituency, Mula Ram has assets worth Rs 90 lakh; BJP candidate from Kathua and former JKAS officer, Dr Bharat Bhushan (Rs 90 lakh); BJP rebel and Independent candidate from Udhampur East, Pawan Khajuria (Rs 2 crore); Congress candidate from Udhampur West, Sumit Magotra (Rs 3 crores); Congress candidate from Bishnah, Neeraj Kundan (Rs 32.28 lakh); National Conference candidate from Vijaypur, Rajesh Pargotra (Rs 1.34 crore); Congress candidate from Nagrota, Balbir Singh (Rs 23 lakh), PDP candidate from Jammu North, Darshan Kumar Magotra (Rs 1.12 crore).
