Handwara, March 18, 2025: In a bid to promote fitness, community engagement, and road safety awareness, the District Police Handwara successfully organized a Cycle Race today under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2024-25. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from cyclists of various age groups, showcasing the community’s growing interest in sports and a healthy lifestyle.
The race was flagged off by SSP Handwara, Shri Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary (JKPS), alongside ASP Handwara and other senior police officials, from Main Chowk, Langate. The cyclists navigated a challenging yet scenic route passing through Langate Bridge, T-Junction, and Bypass Handwara, before culminating at Environment Hall, Handwara. Participants displayed remarkable zeal, endurance, and sportsmanship, contributing to the event’s grand success.
Addressing the gathering during the prize distribution ceremony, SSP Handwara, Shri Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary, underscored the significance of sports in fostering discipline, unity, and positive engagement among the youth. He reiterated the police department’s commitment to strengthening community relations and encouraged young people to actively participate in sports and other constructive activities.
The winners were felicitated with trophies, medals, and certificates, serving as motivation for the youth to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle. In his concluding remarks, SSP Handwara emphasized the collective responsibility to ensure a drug-free society and urged the participants to carry this message forward within their communities. He reassured that while the police remain committed to helping individuals struggling with substance abuse, those responsible for pushing youth into drug addiction will face strict legal action.
He further lauded the participants for their enthusiastic involvement and advised them to pursue their educational goals with the same dedication they exhibited during the event.
