KATHUA : As a part of the ongoing public outreach programme, โ๐ง๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ ๐๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐โ, an initiative of the Government of J&K UT to strengthen PoliceโPublic relations and to ensure timely redressal of peopleโs grievances, was organized at multiple locations i.e PS Kathua ( Out Post Ghatti), P/S Lakhanpur( Hatli) & PS Basohli, Rajbagh (Marheen) & Malhar area by District Police Kathua.
The programmes were chaired at different venues by senior officers of District Police Kathua viz. DySP Hqrs Kathua Sh. Ravinder Singh & IC PP Ghatti PSI Rajat Kotwal attended the Thana Diwas at Ghatti area whereas SHO P/S Lakhanpur Insp. Tariq Ahmed under the guidance of DySP DAR Kathua Sh. Ritesh Samyal attended said programme at Hatli area.In addition, Thana Diwas in the jurisdiction of PS Basohli was chaired by SDPO Basohli Sh. Om Parkash accompanied by SHO PS Basohli PSI Swaran Singh Manhas and Thana Diwas at Marheen was chaired by SDPO Border Sh. Dheeraj Katoch, DySP Ops. Kathua Ms Pushpa Rajput, SHO PS Rajbagh Insp. Ajay Singh Chib & IC PP Marheen PSI Gulshan Partap Singh and Thana Diwas at PS Malhar chaired by SHO PS Malhar PSI Arun Shan under the guidance of DySP Ops Malhar Sh. Sushil Kumar.
Prominent civil society members,PRI’s and respectable citizens of the respective areas participated in large numbers and interacted with the police officers.
During the programmes, participants highlighted various local issues and matters of public importance i.e tenant Verification,non availability of official barricading on Industrial Route at Ghatti, Drug peddling, cctv cameras installation,traffic management, maintain Law & Order, etc .The locals were also sensitized about the prevailing security scenario.They were requested to immediately inform the Police in case of spotting any unknown or suspicious person,vehicle or movement and to ensure timely sharing of information.Some local issues such as availabilty of ambulance services,power supply interuptions & road related problems were also raised by participants at Malhar. The officers assured them that genuine grievances related to policing will be redressed on priority, while issues concerning civil administration will be taken up with the concerned departments for their early resolution.
Addressing the gatherings, the officers reiterated that community policing is essential to boost public confidence, which in turn strengthens the fight against crime and social evils. Special emphasis was laid on the menace of drug abuse, with a call for collective responsibility to eradicate this threat from society.
