RAMGARH : MLA Ramgarh, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, today inaugurated a Handloom Weaving Training Center in Karawali, established under the Department of Handloom Development, during an awareness camp and workshop aimed at promoting skill development and self-reliance among local artisans.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal emphasized the significance of preserving traditional crafts and empowering rural women through skill-based training. He applauded the department’s efforts in promoting employment opportunities through such initiatives.
DDC Member Ramgarh, Sarbjeet Singh Johal, highlighted the need for increasing awareness and participation in government-run handloom schemes, which can serve as a foundation for self-sustained livelihoods in border areas like Ramgarh.
Ms. Niharika (JKAS), Assistant Director, Handloom Samba, informed the audience that this training center would offer structured skill training, design innovation, and technical know-how to local weavers, especially women. She assured that more such centers are being planned to cover other rural belts of Samba.
BDO Ramgarh, Neha Choudhary (JKAS), stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination and encouraged the youth to explore government schemes in handloom and handicrafts as career paths.
Among those present were Former BDC Chairman Darshan Singh, Mandal President Nancy Choudhary, Former Sarpanch Bharat Bhushan, and Former Panches Babu Ram, Binder Singh and Tilak Thappa, who appreciated the launch and expressed their support for further expansion of such initiatives in the region.
The workshop also included a live demonstration and interaction session with local artisans, generating positive feedback from participants.
