SAMBA: In connection with the ongoing National Road Safety Month–2026, the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) Samba organized a Road Safety Awareness Programme at ICC Centre Barian, Samba, with the objective of promoting safe driving practices and reducing road accidents.
The programme witnessed active participation of a large number of commercial vehicle drivers, who were sensitized about the importance of following traffic rules and adopting responsible driving behavior. Officials of the Motor Vehicle Department highlighted key aspects of road safety, including the compulsory use of seat belts and helmets, adherence to speed limits, avoiding drunken driving, dangers of mobile phone usage while driving, and the importance of regular vehicle fitness and valid documents.
The drivers were also educated about defensive driving techniques, lane discipline, pedestrian safety, and the consequences of traffic violations under the Motor Vehicles Act. Emphasis was laid on the role of drivers in ensuring their own safety as well as that of passengers and other road users.
MVD officials urged the drivers to act as ambassadors of road safety and to spread awareness among fellow drivers and the general public. The programme concluded with an interactive session where drivers shared their experiences and clarified their doubts related to traffic rules and road safety norms.
The Motor Vehicle Department reaffirmed its commitment to continue organizing such awareness initiatives throughout the district during National Road Safety Month to create a safer road environment for all.
ARTO Samba Neeraj Sharma, MVI Mansoor Hussain, MVI C.S Balowria and other officials of the department were also present during the program.
