Kathua :27th Feb ,2026 : The *Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma, IPS* chaired a crime review meeting at Police Station Lakhanpur to assess the prevailing law and order situation and review the progress of under-investigation cases. The meeting was attended by Dy. SP DAR Sh. Bhagwan Dass, Sr. PO DPO Kathua Sh. Munish Kumar, SHO PS Lakhanpur Sh. Neeraj Choudhary and IC PP Basantpur PSI Anuradha Singh and all IOs of PS Lakhanpur.
Special emphasis was laid on strict enforcement of the NDPS Act, curbing bovine smuggling, and ensuring effective investigation of crimes against women. Officers were directed to intensify action against drug traffickers and bovine smugglers, dismantle backward and forward linkages, and ensure timely filing of charge sheets. In cases involving crimes against women, instructions were issued for prompt registration of FIRs, time-bound investigation, and sensitive handling of victims.
The SSP reviewed the status of apprehension of absconders and execution of pending warrants, directing teams to expedite action. Efforts to trace missing persons were also emphasized, with focus on sustained follow-up and use of technical tools.
Officers were instructed to strictly adhere to timelines prescribed under the new criminal laws and ensure expeditious investigation. Emphasis was laid on initiating proceedings for trial in absentia of proclaimed offenders, forfeiture of proceeds of crime in appropriate cases, and mandatory FSL visits in heinous offences.
The SSP further directed regular conduct of Police–Citizen Public Group (PCPG) meetings to enhance coordination with the public and strengthen community policing.
Reiterating zero tolerance against drug offences, bovine smuggling, and crimes against women, the SSP instructed supervisory officer to ensure professional, accountable, and result-oriented policing. The SSP also checked Malkhana, Women help desk, CCTNS, Kot, Store and the premises of PS Lakhanpur. The SSP appreciated the work done by PS Lakhanpur especially IC Malkhana who maintain the record up to date. Thereafter, SSP Kathua conducted extensive tour of the jurisdiction of PS Lakhanpur.
