Rajat Charak wins silver at 10th Asian Wushu Championship

JAMMU : Rajat Charak from Chak Lala, Bishnah, has brought honour to Jammu and Kashmir by securing a silver medal at the 10th Asian Wushu Championship held in Macau, China. The event, which ran from September 9 to 16, saw Charak compete as part of a 24-member Indian squad.
The Indian team delivered an outstanding performance, winning one Gold, five Silver and three Bronze medals. Charak’s silver medal, achieved in the below 90kg weight category, was a notable highlight of the Championship.
Dronacharya Awardee Wushu Coach Kuldeep Handoo commended the team’s efforts, stating, “Abhishek Jamwal, Surya Bhanu Partap Singh and Rajat Charak from Jammu and Kashmir were among the 30-member Indian Wushu team, including six supporting staff at the prestigious 10th Asian Wushu Championship. While Abhishek Jamwal and Surya Bhanu Partap Singh were eliminated in the quarter-finals, Rajat Charak excelled and earned the silver medal.”
Handoo acknowledged that while the team’s performance was satisfactory, additional medals could have been won if Jamwal and Bhanu had advanced further. Charak’s achievement highlights the growing prowess of Indian athletes on the global stage.
