Pawan Sharma calls on Ladakh LG Kavinder Gupta to discuss NEP 2020, youth empowerment, and regional development initiatives

JAMMU : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir State Secretary Pawan Sharma today called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Kavinder Gupta, at Circuit House, Jammu. The meeting focused on a series of forward-looking discussions around the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, strengthening cultural exchange initiatives, boosting tourism, and advancing Skill India Mission programs aimed at empowering Ladakh’s youth.

During the meeting, Pawan Sharma emphasized the importance of holistic and inclusive development of the Union Territory of Ladakh, aligning local aspirations with national priorities.

Sharma highlighted the transformative potential of NEP 2020 in promoting experiential learning, vocational training, and local language integration. He stressed the need for setting up model schools and higher education institutions, digital classrooms, and teacher training programs specifically designed for the unique geographical and cultural context of Ladakh.

Recognizing Ladakh’s rich cultural heritage, the leaders explored ways to enhance cultural exchange programs between Ladakh, Jammu, and Kashmir. Sharma proposed organizing inter-regional youth festivals, academic exchange programs, and traditional arts workshops to foster national integration and mutual understanding among students and artists.

The meeting also discussed strategies to develop sustainable tourism infrastructure in Ladakh. Sharma advocated for eco-tourism initiatives, heritage circuit development, and adventure tourism projects to generate employment and preserve the region’s ecological balance. He also called for skill development programs tailored to hospitality, guiding, and tourism services.

As part of the Skill India Mission, Sharma urged the introduction of region-specific skilling programs that can empower local youth in areas like renewable energy, agro-tech, handloom, handicrafts, IT services, and eco-construction. He proposed the establishment of vocational training centres in collaboration with central and private sector partners.

Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta appreciated the suggestions and assured full support in exploring avenues for strategic collaboration between the UT administration and the BJP’s organizational outreach. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, education, and inclusive development.

The meeting concluded with a shared vision for a prosperous and self-reliant Ladakh, where traditional values meet modern aspirations through effective governance, community participation, and continuous dialogue.
