Samba : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited Samba district headquarters today, where he held a meeting with officials from all departments and reviewed the progress of development works and ongoing projects. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah instructed the officials to complete the remaining development works expeditiously. Samba MLA Surjit Singh Salathia, Ramgarh MLA Dr. Devinder Manyal, and Vijaypur MLA Chandraprakash Ganga were also present at the meeting and presented details of development works in their respective constituencies.
When questioned about the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Exellence College Katra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that those protest committees whose efforts led to the closure of the college should celebrate and burst firecrackers. He said that these protest committees have done a great disservice by getting the college closed, but they don’t realize that it takes years to establish a medical college, and here, a college that was already established has been shut down by these committees. The protest committees have played with the future of the students, and these students will never forget this “favor” done by the protest committees.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that they will not allow the lives of the students to be ruined. He said that he has already spoken to Health Minister Sakina Itoo regarding this matter, and these students will now be given admission to medical colleges closer to their homes. Omar Abdullah said that these students will complete their studies and become excellent doctors who will serve the public in the future. He said that they will make the future of Jammu and Kashmir bright, not ruin it.
