Kathua: In a major step towards strengthening rural infrastructure and ensuring last-mile connectivity, MLA Jasrota Rajiv Jasrotia and MLA Basohli Darshan Singh today inaugurated the construction and maintenance work of a key road project under PMGSY-IV. The road stretches from L023 (Link Road) at Km 7th of Boura Road to Athialta, covering a total length of 24.95 km at an estimated cost of ₹68 crore 65 lakh. The project is expected to bring long-awaited relief to residents of remote and interior villages by providing safe, durable and all-weather road connectivity.
The PMGSY-IV road is poised to transform the socio-economic landscape of the region by connecting habitations that have long remained cut off due to poor road infrastructure. The improved connectivity will not only reduce travel time but will also facilitate easier access to healthcare facilities, educational institutions, markets, and government services, thereby improving the overall quality of life for the rural population.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Rajiv Jasrotia termed the inauguration a historic moment for the people of Jasrota. He said the road project would act as a catalyst for socio-economic transformation, opening new avenues for development, employment generation and economic activity. He emphasized that improved road connectivity would significantly boost agriculture, horticulture, and local trade, while also easing daily commuting for students, patients, and working professionals.
MLA Rajiv Jasrotia expressed deep gratitude to Union Minister, PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh Ji, for his keen personal interest and proactive intervention in sanctioning this vital road project. He said that Dr. Jitendra Singh’s development-oriented vision, coupled with continuous monitoring, ensured that a long-pending public demand was finally translated into a tangible outcome. The MLA added that such projects reflect the Prime Minister’s commitment to inclusive growth and equitable development, particularly in border and hilly regions of Jammu & Kashmir.
Reaffirming the BJP leadership’s resolve, Rajiv Jasrotia assured the public of quality execution, transparency, and timely completion of all development projects. He lauded the role of the district administration, engineers, and concerned departments for their coordinated efforts and urged the public to protect and preserve public infrastructure. The MLA informed that several more projects related to roads, power supply, drinking water, and social infrastructure are in the pipeline for the constituency.
