Samba:A sensation spread across the Samba district of Jammu & Kashmir following a suspicious blast early in the morning outside the residence of former Sarpanch Jai Ram Sharma. The explosion caused damage to both the gate and a wall of his house. Police and forensic teams have now arrived at the scene and are conducting an investigation.
The incident occurred around 1:10 AM on the morning of March 23, 2026, when a loud explosion rocked Harsath village, located within the Ghagwal police station jurisdiction in Samba district. The blast took place near the main gate of former Sarpanch Jai Ram Sharma’s residence. The sound of the explosion was so loud that frightened locals rushed out of their homes. According to preliminary reports, the blast occurred under suspicious circumstances, creating an atmosphere of panic in the area. Family members were inside the house at the time of the incident.
Due to the explosion, the main gate of the house was completely dislodged, and a section of the boundary wall was also damaged. However, a relieving aspect of the incident was that no one sustained any injuries, and there was no loss of life. According to locals, the blast was quite powerful, causing tremors throughout the immediate vicinity of the house. Treating it as a suspected explosion in their preliminary assessment, the police have taken the matter seriously.
Immediately following the incident, Jai Ram Sharma informed the Ghagwal Police Station. Upon receiving the information, a police team rushed to the scene and cordoned off the entire area. The police inspected the site and initiated a preliminary investigation. Officials stated that a case has been registered, and the matter is being investigated from every possible angle. Locals residing in the vicinity are also being questioned to ascertain the underlying causes behind the incident.
Following the event, a team of forensic experts was also summoned to the scene. The team has collected samples from the blast site to help determine the nature and cause of the explosion. Investigating agencies are currently working to determine the type of explosive used and to identify the individuals who may be behind the incident. At present, no terrorist or criminal angle has been ruled out, and investigations into all possibilities are ongoing.
The police have registered an FIR in this matter, and senior officials have personally visited the scene to assess the situation. Security in the area has been heightened; vigilance has been further intensified, particularly given the proximity to the international border. The police state that the case will be solved shortly. Currently, the investigation is underway, and action is being taken while keeping every aspect in consideration.
