TWO-DAY MDP ON STRESS MANAGEMENT INAUGURATED BY DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE IN COLLABORATION WITH ANUTHAM HOTEL AND RESORTS

25 MAY 2026 : P.G. Department of Commerce successfully inaugurated a Two-day Management Development Programme (MDP) on the theme “Stress Management for Hospitality Sector” in collaboration with Anutham Hotel & Resorts today. The Management Development Programme was organized under the patronage of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof.Umesh Rai, reaffirming the University’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and industry-relevant skills among students and professionals. On these lines, Prof. Jeevan Jyoti, Head, Department of Commerce, highlighted that the MDP aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practice, equipping participants with tools for venture creation and growth.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and hotel professionals. Ms. Lilly Bhan, a Soft Skills Trainer and Management Head associated with Brainpreneurs-CDC, Ms. Pallavi Mahajan HR & Marketing Program Manager and Social Media Marketing Head Brainpreneurs-CDC and Dr. Pallavi Sachdeva, Sr. Assistant Professor, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu, were the key note speakers of the event. The inaugural session commenced with the formal welcome of dignitaries and participants. Keeping into consideration the current market situation, MDP emphasized the need to create awareness regarding workplace stress, emotional well-being, work-life balance, and effective coping strategies, especially in the hospitality and service sectors.
The resource persons highlighted the growing importance of stress management in enhancing employee productivity, organizational commitment, and mental wellness. Various aspects such as Self-awareness/reflection & Stress assessment, Managing anxiety, overwhelming & racing thoughts, Building emotional resilience, self-compassion & reducing self-criticism, mindfulness for stress reduction, emotional intelligence, and positive workplace culture were deliberated upon during the technical sessions.
Interactive discussions, practical examples, and experience-sharing sessions made the programme highly engaging and informative for the participants. The session ended with the formal vote of thanks by Dr. Harleen Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, University of Jammu, emphasised the need for adopting healthy coping mechanisms and maintaining psychological resilience in professional life.
The proceedings of the first day concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session. The entire session was coordinated by Dr. Rupa Mahajan, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, University of Jammu.
